Small Choices, BIG Changes

 

 

We live in a period where knowledge is literally at our fingertips regarding choices that we can make to better our health. Large amounts of research and information exists with recommendations on how to improve cholesterol, blood pressure, arthritis, back pain, heart disease and many other illnesses.

Our day is filled with small choices to make about how we spend our time and what we eat. Time passes by quickly and before we know it, another day has come to an end, a week has gone by, a month has passed, and now, we celebrate another birthday. What may seem as insignificant at the time, actually adds up to enormous value in time.

Our health is measurable at any given point in our lives, yet the parameters used to measure our health is the summation of how we live, what we do, and what we eat.

Have fun. Create a plan that works best for you, move to your own pace. Don’t keep up with others, keep up with yourself. Make small choices that are simple to create better habits. Incorporate some of these Small Choice Tips in your day!

10 Small Choice Tips:

  1. Regular Sleep, set an alarm, go to bed on time, get up on time

  2. Avoid Diets, diets are temporary efforts

  3. Create Simple Rules for Eating (Pick 1 or Multiple Rules):

    1. Limit fried foods, refined carbohydrates, sugar
    2. Increase water, protein, vegetables, fruits
    3. Prepare foods from home
    4. No eating out, SAVE MONEY!
  4. Take the stairs

  5. Park further away from the store to walk

  6. Stretch for 10 minutes daily

  7. Read for 10 minutes daily

  8. Exercise for 10 minutes daily

  9. Organize your home and office to encourage movement over convenience

  10. Schedule your meals with an appointment to begin eating regularly
